Every pet is unique, and so is their grooming experience! Pricing is determined by factors such as size, coat quality and condition, as well as the style requested.

Dogs:

Dogs receive a haircut, nail trim, anal gland expression, ear flush, plucked if needed, and a full bath with blow dry.

We offer a variety of high-quality shampoos, including hypoallergenic, soap-free options and conditioners to suit your dog’s individual needs. If your dog has a skin condition, one of our veterinarians will evaluate the concern and recommend the appropriate medicated shampoo for use during grooming.

For dogs with long, silky coats, we may apply a light lanolin-based finishing spray to enhance shine and manageability, unless otherwise requested by the owner.

We welcome you to bring a photo or magazine clipping as a reference for your dog’s desired haircut. We make every effort to achieve a style that is both attractive and appropriate for your pet’s coat type and condition.

In some cases, dogs may need to go home with a shorter cut than originally planned due to significant matting or tangling. When coats are severely matted, grooming can become uncomfortable or stressful. With years of professional experience, we carefully assess each situation and prioritize your dog’s comfort and well-being when determining the most appropriate course of action.

Puppies:

We recommend introducing puppies to grooming as soon as they have completed their initial vaccination series. Even a simple bath and light trim can help them become familiar with the sights, sounds, and handling involved in the grooming process.

Early, positive experiences set the foundation for a lifetime of stress-free grooming. Most dogs become comfortable with the routine by their third visit and begin to relax and enjoy their time at the spa.

Cats:

Cats receive a haircut or brush out and trim, ear flush, and a nail trim.

Feline grooming can be particularly challenging. Cats have very delicate skin that can be easily injured, and many have limited tolerance for handling during grooming. As many cat owners know, most cats have a short “patience window,” and it often closes before the grooming process is complete.

For this reason, and with very few exceptions, we believe that most cats experience significantly less stress when grooming is performed under light sedation administered by a veterinarian. This approach allows the procedure to be completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal stress. GVAH uses shampoos and products specifically approved for use in cats to ensure their safety and comfort.

Lumps, bumps etc.

While grooming your dog or cat, our team works in very close contact with your pet and may notice concerns such as lumps, sores, redness in the ears, or other abnormalities. If something is observed, we will first review your pet’s medical record to determine whether the issue has already been identified.

If it appears to be a new concern, a staff member will contact you to request authorization for one of our veterinarians to examine your pet. Please note that our grooming staff members are not veterinarians and cannot provide a medical diagnosis; however, they are trained to recognize irregularities and are committed to helping ensure your pet’s continued health and well-being.

Additional Costs

For pets with a curly coat, there is an additional charge due to the labor intensive process it takes to groom them. For pets with heavy matting that you wish to keep long, our groomers will reach out to discuss whether it is advisable to de-mat the coat for an additional fee, or if it is best to cut the coat shorter in order to make it easier on your pet.
